SENIOR MEN
Another County league weekend, another battling point gained for our Senior Men in Gneeveguilla on a sunny summer Sunday. The visitors recovered from a slow start, trailing 0-4 to 0-1, to lead 0-11 to 0-6 at half time. Instrumental to all that was Finbarr Murphy's three point contribution and the accuracy of Jamie O Sullivan and Ryan O Grady. The home side thundered into the game in the second half reeling off four unanswered points before Jamie Alade slipped in for a much needed goal. But that four point cushion disappeared again with Gneeveguilla striking for a goal of their own. Further points from Finbarr Murphy and Padraig Lucey opened out a three point lead again but the hosts were finishing strong to lead going into the final moments. An injury to custodian Rob Osborne resulted in a reshuffle that saw Finbarr Murphy don the gloves, a job he took in his stride .With the seconds ticking away, a well worked move yielded an equaliser from William Shine. Spa are the visitors to Direen in the next round, a game pencilled in for the weekend of June 24/25th.
Team..Rob Osborne, Kieran O Donoghue, Danny Sheahan, Darragh Fleming, Eoghan O Sullivan, Rob Leen, Thomas Moriarty, Padraig Lucey(0-2), Jamie Alade(1-0), Luke O Donoghue, Peter McCarthy(0-1), Finbarr Murphy(0-4), Ryan O Grady(0-6), Jamie O Sullivan(0-2), Will Shine(0-1).
Subs.. Finn O Sullivan, Stephen Flattery, Callum O Donoghue, Tom Cronin.
The Senior B Men  were at home to the highflying Valentia in Division 6 of the County League and a bit like their Senior counterparts they were short a few regulars. Although kicking a respectable 3-8 they had no answer to the rejuvenated Islanders who are targeting promotion. They travel south in the next round to St Michaels Foilmore on the weekend of June 24/25th.

U13 DIVISION 1 COUNTY LEAGUE FINAL
John Mitchels 4-14

Killarney Legion 2-11
Our U13 Green Team played John Mitchels in the Div 1 County League Final on Sunday evening in the excellent Milltown GAA pitcu. Mitchels played with the wind in the first half and built up an 8 point lead at half time. A couple of points early in the second half moved us closer but we could never gain the momentum needed to close the gap. Well done to an excellent John Mitchels team and their coaches. Well done to our boys on a fine campaign. The lads will take a small break now and focus on the East Kerry competition later in the year.

JUVENILE BOYS UPDATE
Legion Under 11 boys hosted John Mitchels in the next round of the Go Games in the week just past.. Two very competitive games were played out in ideal conditions . Despite some players  being unavailable on the evening, the Legion boys can be very proud of their endeavours. Thanks to John Mitchels for coming over for the games . Credit also due to John Keane and Oisin Fleming, who did a great job refereeing both games as usual and Donal O Donoghue for getting both fields ready . A road trip to Milltown on Thursday June 15th is next on the agenda.
Our young U13 Boys team played their County League semi-final on a balmy Tuesday evening in Listowel. A slow start in the first half left us with a lot to do trailing at half time by  4-04 to 1-02. A stirring second half revival saw our lads  fight their way back into the game  to draw level. But the effort took its toll on a warm evening with the home team finishing the stronger. Listowel advanced to the final on a scoreline of 5-08 to 3-06.

LADIES FOOTBALL UPDATE
Killarney Legion hosted the inaugural U10 Girls Football Tournament on Monday 5th June. The event was kindly supported by Utility Trust and over 130 players from 9 clubs played a festival of football in glorious sunshine at Direen. 24 games were played over the course of the morning with multiple teams from each club playing 3 games each. After serving up terrific entertainment in the sizzling conditions, the post-match ice creams went down well with all the participants.Killarney Legion Juvenile Committee would like to thank all the visiting clubs from Beaufort, Dr. Crokes, Fossa, Firies, Glenflesk, Kilcummin, Laune Rangers & Rathmore for making the trip. Thanks also to all coaches, parents, volunteers and supporters who made the day a great success.
Ali Bowler had the honour of captaining the Kerry U14 soccer team that recently competed in the Gaynor Cup. A versatile performer she was also a member of the Kerry Ladies football team that captured the Munster Championship this year. With good sporting stock on both sides of the family the old proverb " an ounce of breeding is worth a ton of feeding" is very apt.

MOTHERS AND OTHERS
Our Mothers and Others group are one of our busiest, and most enjoyable, facets of the Club and as always are looking to add to their troop. Dubbed social football with a twist it offers women of all ages and ability the opportunity to enjoy the basics of Gaelic football in a fun and non competitive environment. And with the line up in our group there is a particular emphasis on fun. Gatherings are every Wednesday in Direen at 8pm and all are welcome. Contact 0876963979 for more info.

HAPPY RETIREMENT
Congratulations to Mike Leahy on his forty years of teaching in St Brendans College, a landmark on which he has decided to hang up his " Muinteoir Bib". All in the Club hope you enjoy your added leisure time.

CONGRATULATIONS
There is a new addition to the Moynihan household this weather as Club stalwart Noel Mini Moynihan and wife Mary Ellen welcomed a baby boy in recent weeks. Congrats to them both and hope the sleepless nights are few and far between.
