COACHING OFFICER

Following discussion at committee level for a couple of years the Club Executive has begun the process to identify and recruit a Coaching Development Officer for the Club. With responsibility for amongst other things as training and upskilling of underage coaches, player management and welfare, skill development , health and fitness programmes for underage players it is seen as being a pivotal and crucial step in the future of the Club. The required candidate will have to have the necessary experience but probably most crucially be armed with excellent communication and leadership skills. With the goal that each boy and girl in the club can realise their full potential it is hoped to attract an energetic and dynamic individual. A sub committee in the club has been appointed to oversee the process and it will be headed by Club vice Chairman Liam McGuire. He is joined by Ladies Club Chairperson Ted Healy, Juvenile Management Committee Chair Donal O Leary, Senior Men's player Jamie O Sullivan and former Club officer Diarmuid Leen. We wish the sub committee the best of luck in its work. A full description of the role is available to view on our club website at www.legiongaa.com

CONGRATULATIONS

Well done to both Fossa and Rathmore who emerged victorious from their battles in Croke Park over the weekend. David Clifford was the star turn in Fossa's win over Stewartstown while Shane Ryan led the way for Rathmore in their Intermediate win over Galbally Pearses.

CROKE PARK TRIBUTE

The latest addition to the Press Box in Croke Park is a photographic tribute to one of our own the late Weeshie Fogarty. Pictured deep in conversation with former Kerry Captain Darran O Sullivan after a match, it captures his unique style of interviewing. It is great and fitting to see our National GAA headquarters recognising the legendary figure that was Weeshie.

FITZGERALD STADIUM STEWARDS

The call has gone out from Fitzgerald Stadium looking for anyone interested in assisting them with providing stewards for match days in the famous grounds. Training will be provided at a specially arranged course on Saturday January 28th, so if you're interested you can forward your name to our Club Secretary Lara by email Secretary.legion.kerry@gaa.ie or at 0877766551.

DEEPEST SYMPATHIES

The Club extends its sympathies to the family of John McGillycuddy. John was a familiar face at Legion matches down through the years while his two sons Gerard and John lined out for the Club at all grades with some distinction. May he Rest in Peace. Also to the family, friends and clubmates of Saoirse Buckley ,who played with Inbhear Sceine Gaels, a young girl taken far too soon.
