Killarney Legion has a new Chairperson. Following a period of engagement with members after the AGM, the group tasked with filling the clubs top spot made a recommendation to the first meeting of the new Club Executive.

Having received unanimous backing, John Keane was ratified as the new Chairperson of Killarney's most progressive club.

The hugely popular Legion stalwart told the club executive that "this is a proud day for me. I have held almost every position in the club from coaching the academy and summer camps, through involvement with boys and mens teams from u10 to senior, and to coaching our great Mothers & Others group. Ive done everything from car park steward to grass cutting jobs and a stint in the executive as Joint Treasurer."

The Keane family have given great service to the club with Geraldine a former exec member and stalwart in her own right and Sean and Conor admired for their football prowess.

John was a fine player in his own playing days; playing minor, u21 and senior football with Kerry and having captained UCC to Sigerson Cup glory in 1988.

Well known outside of football  for his leadership of the Community College's Adult education programme, John  is much admired and well liked figure in Direen and beyond.

John knows that many people pulling together is what makes any volunteer run club great, and wants to welcome more people to get involved with the clubs development, in its social activities and community work as well as supporting its Football, Hurling and cultural activities.

All in the club wish Keano a successful stint in the top job!
