KERRY PETROLEUM INTERMEDIATE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP Despite racing into an early 1-3 to 0-0 lead our Senior Men eventually succumbed to Laune Ramgers in the opening round of the Intermediate Club Championship.  The fast start was eclipsed almost as quick by Laune Rangers as they hit 2-4 without reply to lead by four with twenty minutes gone. Denis Sheahan had tipped a centre into the Austin Stack Park net to give his side the best possible start but the Launesiders took control to lead 2-8 to 1-6 at half time.  A two pointer free from Brian Kelly and a point after a charge forward from Cian Gammell got their team back into the game and scores were exchanged at regular intervals and with the game heading for the final furlong it was up for grabs. But Laune Rangers finished the stronger , adding four further points with Brian Kelly hitting our sole reply from  a 45. Final Score Killarney Legion 1-13 Laune Rangers 2-15.

SENIOR LADIES
Our Senior Ladies team travelled to Ballyrickard on Tuesday for the Corrib Oil Senior League Final where they faced Kerins O Rahillys. Having lost to the same opposition in the same venue three weeks previous , a tough game was expected. The first half was even with the home team playing with the breeze, but some resolute defending and some great team play saw the sides level at half time , 0-6 a piece. The second half saw the ladies take the field early, lift the intensity and make life tough for the opposition. Despite scoring the first two points of the half , Kerins O Rahillys struck for a  goal to see them lead by the minimum. The Ladies never panicked though and took control of the game from here, scoring the next 3 points .Keri Ann Hanrahan’s introduction, after an absence through injury, saw her score the next point, quickly followed by a green flag. Now dominant , some great points
from Laura Healy & Kate McCarthy extended  the lead before Shania Costello came forward from corner back to score another goal. Rahillys came back with further points before Laura Healy netted again to put the tie to bed. The teams traded scores in the final minutes with all Legion substitutes contributing to a Legion win on a score of Legion 3-18 Kerins O Rahillys 1-11

U12 BOYS
Rathbeg was the venue, and Rathmore the opposition for the next round of the U12 East Kerry Go Games on Thursday evening. With numbers lower than usual, we played 2 games 11 v 11 and a 9 v 9 . Both teams played into a stiff beeeze for the first half, and Rathmore was very dominant in both games while playing with the wind . The second half of both games Legion had more possession and started to make some inroads to the Rathmore lead, but at the final whistle, not enough scores were converted, and Rathmore deservedly were triumphant in both games . Thanks to the young whistlers who did a great job on the night, and thanks to Rathmore for hosting us.

U16 BOYS
Our U16 Boys faced Kilcummin in the first game of the County League  Division  1 Playoff which is between ourselves, Kilcummin and Listry. The game was played in the Centre of Excellence in Currans. Playing with a strong wind Kilcummin started much the better and two goals in the first 15 mins saw them establish an 8 point lead. After a very poor start the team improved gradually and narrowed the gap to 5 at half time with the score 2-5 to 0-6.
Through the second half the teams traded scores but in truth the boys did not play well on the evening and Kilcummin deservedly won on this occasion.  Next up is the second leg of the Playoff against Listry the winner of which will progress to the Div 1 semi final . Final Score Killarney Legion 1-11 Kilcummin 2-13.

U16 LADIES
The girls secured their second win of the campaign in Round 4 of Division 2 of the County League on Thursday  evening with a strong all-round performance against Austin Stacks. From the first whistle, they played with great intensity, teamwork, and composure. A big thanks to Austin Stacks for contributing to a very sporting game. Thanks also to John Purcell for officiating and to Eamonn and the field committee for having the pitch in superb condition once again. Full time Killarney Legion 6-12 Austin Stacks 1-8.
