SENIOR MEN
A busy weekend for our Senior Men's teams started on Friday evening with our Division 6 team hosting Dr Crokes. In what was a good all round team performance they pulled out a 3-12 to 3-4 win.
In Division 1 we travelled to another form team in the shape of Kerins O Rahillys and our recent good form continued into the first quarter. Points from Josh Bowler, David O Sullivan and Ryan O Grady had us 0-7 to 0-2 clear with a water break called in the sweltering conditions. That served to buck up the Strand Road effort and by the end of the half they had closed the gap to one point, 0-8 to 1-4. That blue momentum flowed into the second half as they hit six points on the bounce before Josh Bowler stopped the rot to make it 1-10 to 0-9. Not without the lack of effort the team worked very hard to get back into the game but that 22nd minute goal for Strand Road proved the difference in the end, 1- 15 to 0-15.
This weekend sees Laune Rangers visit Direen on Saturday with a 5pm throw in. The Division 6 team visit Farranfore on Sunday afternoon.

SENIOR LADIES
Another win for our Senior ladies in the Donal Curtin Cup but they were made to work all the way for it by a youthful and spirited Chorca Dhuibhne. With a ten point lead with ten minutes to go the points looked safe but the Westerners put in a frantic finish which yielded 3-2 and actually put them in front with minutes on the clock. But the ship was steadied by an Aine Devlin point before Laura Healy hit the match winning score from a free. The first half saw the ladies in control with the aid of a stiff breeze as Ciara Randles and Laura Healy found their range. Orianne McGillycuddy stole in for a trademark goal and when Andrea Murphy weaved her way in for another major they held a 2-5 to 0-5 advantage.. Kate McCarthy was accurate from placed balls and she extended the lead to seven at half time. Laura Healy hit early in the second as Chorca Dhuibhne made use of the elements to hit three rapid points . But Ciara Randles smart finish seemed to have put the game out of reach. But that was not before the grandstand finish which saw the lead change heads before Laura Healy got the all important win. The team have now qualified for the Donal Curtin Cup semi finals. Final score Killarney Legion 3-12 Chorca Dhuibhne 3-11.
Scorers Ciara Randles 1-3, Laura Healy 0-4,  Orianne Macgillycuddy 1-0, Andrea Murphy 1-0, Kate McCarthy 0-3, Aine Devlin 0-2.

U16 BOYS
It took extra time to separate Killarney Legion and Kilcummin in the latest instalment of a rivalry which looks set to continue for another few years, Never much between the teams it looked like the visitors would come out of Kilcummin with the win in normal time until Darragh Keane pooped up with tow sensational two pointers from placed balls to take the game to extra time. However a superb extra time performance inspired by Samuel Scroope and Jayden Hurley built on the dominance of Jake Coffey in midfield saw Legion eventually run out 1-16 to 1-11 winners,
The game itself was hard fought with scores hard to come by for long periods with Jack Culloty opening the Legion account. The same player, though , had to retire injured but his replacement Callum Cox more than held his own. Cian Hegarty and  Samuel Scroope pushed out the lead to 0-5 to 0-1beofre Kilcummin replied to close the gap to two. Jayden Hurley, very accurate throughout and Hegarty made it 0-7 to 0-3 heading for the dressing room but Kilcummin stole in for a goal on the way to close the gap to the minimum.
The second half was equally tight with Kilcummin drawing level early and it took Legion a while to get into their stride. Kilcummin did goin front , 1-5 to 0-7 but a brace of points from Cian Hegarty put his side back in front. The same players put Jayden Hurley through on goal and the lively corner forward made no mistake as he slotted it under the keeper. That looked to have sealed the win until the Keane Late Late Show.
Eventhough Kilcummin hit the opener in extra time the truth is they never got a grip on the rest of the game as the Legion defence tightened up and the midfield supremacy gave the forwards the possession to ram home the advantage. Jayden Hurley and Samuel Scroope were pillars of accuracy and they helped their side to run out 1-17 to 1-11 winners.

Cian Whitty, Robert Murphy, and Patrick Mac Sweeny played two games against Clare, and all acquitted themselves very well indeed.

U10 GIRLS
Our U10 girls were out in force on Tuesday night in Direen for a busy and very enjoyable blitz . With visiting teams from Kilcummin, Beaufort, and Currow, each team got 4–5 great games in Huge thanks to our refs James Murphy, Mark Looney and Justin Healy for keeping things flowing all evening . Thanks also to all the coaches and parents who helped out — and to the girls for their effort and energy throughout.

U16 LADIES
A huge effort from our U16 girls on Thursday evening in glorious sunshine in Keel as they came through a thrilling East Kerry Division 2 semifinal against a tough MKL side.It was all square at half time and being just a point ahead with ten minutes to go, the girls showed real determination & kicked some brilliant scores down the stretch to seal the win. Full time Killarney Legion 2-15 MKL B 3-8
Well done to MKL for a great battle, and thanks to Sean Courtney for excellent officiating.

MINOR LADIES
Our minor ladies welcomed Churchill to Direen on Tuesday evening for a Minor County League Group 2 final. With the visitors low on numbers the game was played with  twelve a side. On a hot evening both teams turned in a magnificent display of football as a highly entertaining game was played out. Legion, with the aid of the breeze went ahead early with some fine point kicking but the visitors responded in kind. It was tit for tat until Kiera Moynihan hit the net for the first legion goal. Another well worked goal, this time by Sophie O Shea put six in it at the break, Killarney Legion 2-6 Churchill 0-6.
The home team started to take control early in the second half, going nine clear with some well worked scores from the boot of full forward Laura Healy. Churchill weren’t done yet though and, with the wind on their backs, put the home defence under pressure only for them to stand firm under the guidance of full back Beatric Corridan. They did breach the defence with a well taken goal midway through the half to reduce the deficit and to their credit rallied hard towards the end. A well worked move up the other end resulted in Legions 3rd goal of the game from substitute Kate Fleming to again put a gap between the teams. Churchill laid siege to the  goal towards the end but the defence stood tall and closed out the game to win Legion 3-11 Churchill 1-14
