SENIOR LADIES
Our senior ladies were in action last Monday  night, away to Dingle in Round 2 of the Bon Secours Junior B championship. On a wet, windy and dank evening, it was the home team who settled the quickest registering 1-02 without reply. The  ladies gradually got to grips with the game, but another green flag for the home team just before half time extended the lead to four points ,  2-06 to 1-05. Even if it was possible conditions deteriorated even more in the second half, making for a tough battle, and despite long periods of possession, scores were hard to come by. It was the home team who held firm and ran out deserving winners in the end on a scoreline of 2-08 to 1-06.
However, all is not lost. A must win game awaits in Direen  this  Monday night, September 2nd against Kilcummin with the team knowing a victory will see them advance to the knockout stages of the competition.

FAMILY OPEN DAY
The Saturday Morning Academy is hosting an open day for all families this Saturday September 7th. Boys and girls, aged 3-11, are all invited to the event, which takes place in the club grounds in Direen, and will feature bouncy castles , face painting and other fun activities. The good news is admission is free and snacks and drinks will be provided as well as Club wristbands. New people are encouraged to call up and meet the coaches, team members and learn more about the club and what it has to offer. More information can be gather from Derek Pyne 089 2299769 and Justin Healy at 086 3684108. The Academy itself returned  on last Saturday August 31st.

U11 BOYS
The U 11 boys were back in action Thursday evening, competing in phase two of the East Kerry Go Games . Glenflesk provided the opposition and a good stern test for the young lads of Legion . Two very competitive tough games ensued with good scores and plenty of skill on show from both teams .. Thanks to John Keane and Nigel Shevlin for refereeing the games and best of luck to both Glenflesk teams in their future games .
The Academy returns from Saturday August 31st and training resumes for u11 boys at 10:30.

U13 BOYS
Pride of place goes to the  U13 Boys who got the better of local rivals Dr Crokes in an East Kerry semi final played in Direen on a wet Sunday evening. They took control of the game from the off and built up a lead that was never really threatened.  The defence was rock solid, allowing Crokes very few opportunities, while the midfield worked tirelessly to win every ball and drove  forward, with the forwards  converting most chances into a score. Well done to the team and management and best of luck in the final .

U15 DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP
Well done  to our six U15 boys playing with East Kerry that enjoyed a comfortable win over Castleisland District in Cordal on Wednesday night last. Samuel Scroope, Jack Culloty, Ronan O Brien , James Murphy, Jake Coffey, and Mark Looney were all in the panel and they will play St. Brendans Board in the final . Well done also to Coach Nigel Shevlin, who is part of the management team.

DEVELOPMENT SQUADS
Well done to Jayden Hurley, Cian Hegarty, Jamie Fleming, Conor Moynihan, and Sean Lyne, who played for Kerry U14 South Development Team against Cork on Saturday in Donoughmore. All boys are reported to have done very well indeed.

U14 GIRLS
The U14 girls were at home to face Inbhear Scéine Gaels Kenmare in Round 3 of the East Kerry league.l on Sunday evening. A tough game was expected and so it played out on a wet evening. The girls showed great heart and were competitive in most phases of the game however our opponent was ruthless in all areas of the pitch making it hard for Legion to work scores. Tonight the spoils went to the visitors despite a spirited performance from a young Legion team. Well done to ISG for a sporting game and to the ref on the night.
