KERRY PETROLEUM INTERMEDIATE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
The Senior Men bounced back from the opening day defeat at the hands at Glrnflesk with a well merited win over Gneeveguilla in Doreen on Saturday evening. While it was the nature of the defeat , not the performance, that irked many in Spa, the overall showing against the Sliabh Luachra side was very efficient. Five players, namely James O Donoghue,  David O Sullivan,  Darragh Lyne, Darragh O Doherty and Denis Sheahan all found the target in the opening half to open up a 0-9 to 0-6 interval lead. With a slight breeze to their backs , four more found their name on the scoresheet. Peter McCarthy with four, Eoghan O Sullivan, Rob Leen and Jamie Alade all combined to stretch the lead out to eight points, 0-17 to 0-9. Daire Murphy made his  championship debut with three further scorers, the Gammell brothers and Jonathon Lyne making it a 0-20 to 0-9 victory. Next weekend sees a trip down south to Cahirciveen where St Mary's lie in wait. A win would see us qualify for the quarter finals.
Team Brian Kelly, Darragh Fleming,  Darragh O Doherty (0-1),  Peter O Sullivan,  Jonathan Lyne (0-1),  Danny Sheahan,  Rob Leen (0-1),  Jamie Alade (0-1)  Cian Gammell (0-1), Eoghan O Sullivan (0-1),  Darragh Lyne (0-2),  Denis Sheahan (0-2),  James O Donoghue (0-1),  David O Sullivan (0-3),  Peter McCarthy(0-4)
Subs used Sam Benson for James O Donoghue,  Shaun Keane for Jamie Alade, Conor Gammell(0-1) for Peter O Sullivan,  Cathal Sheahan for Jonathan Lyne,  Daire Murphy for Peter McCarthy.

KERRY LADIES
A huge congratulations to the Kerry Senior Ladies on their extremely impressive win over Galway last Sunday. It brought the Brendan Martin Cup to the Kingdom and ended a 31 year wait for All Ireland glory.
A special mention to S and C Coach Eric McDonnell, whose daughter is an active member of our Saturday Morning Academy.

MINOR COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
The fixtures have been confirmed for the group stages of the Keanes SuperValu Minor County Championship. We entertain Kenmare Shamrocks in Direen on this Monday August 5th while a week later we travel to Castleisland to take on St Kierans in the second round. A neutral venue fixture against Austin Stacks rounds up the group games. The top two in the group qualify for the quarter finals with third and fourth entering into the Shield competition. Plenty football ahead for our U17 Boys.

KERRY SOUTH DEVELOPMENT SQUADS
Well done to Samuel Scroope , James Murphy , Ronan O Brien,  Mark Looney and Jack Culloty  who all played with South Kerry in a comfortable victory over Cavan u15s on Saturday in Portlaoise.  Jamie Fleming, Sean Lyne, Conor Moynihan and Cian Hegarty were also part of the  U14 team that travelled to Kildare to face the host County and Westmeath. Jayden Hurley who is also on the panel missed today due to holidays.

U16 LADIESOur U16 Green team continued their Division Three County League campaign on Thursday evening with a visit to local rivals Glenflesk. Both teams are well used to each other and never fail to turn up a tough battle with no quarter asked or given, and so it played out again. On a warm evening, the game was played 13 v 13, which made for a wide open game of football. Legion played with the aid of the wind and led at half time 7-04 to 3-03 with some excellently worked scores. Glenflesk was always going to mount a challenge in the second half, and so it played out. With some well taken goals, they fought their way back into the game, but when our girls did carry it up the field, it yielded results on the scoreboard to keep us in front. In a tough encounter, there were a number of injuries, and we wish the wounded on both sides speedy recoveries. These teams never fail to serve up entertaining football of a high quality and did so again this evening with Legion running out winners on a scoreline of 9-08 to 7-08.
