U15 BOYS
The Killarney Legion U15 Boys added the East Kerry Division 1 title to the County equivalent to land an impressive double in what is arguably the hardest environment to do it. They faced a Kilcummin side in Direen on Wednesday evening that was more than plucky and who really put it up to them , especially in the first half. That the win was achieved against the backdrop of absentees through injuries and holidays bodes well as it gave some players some extra responsibility and they embraced it to hold out for a 3-7 to 1-10 win. Even in the early stages Liam Quirke and Jack Grady hobbled off for Legion while Cian Maher left the field injured for Kilcummin and we wish all three well with their recovery.
Jack Culloty opened the scoring but Kilcummin gained control with Darragh Keane, Cian Stack and Mark Fleming hitting 1-3 without reply. It was then the home side's turn to wrestle control with Culloty and Cian Hegarty hitting the onion sack. Those finishes were impressive and they had to be as Kilcummin culbaire Joe O Connor was immense between the sticks. That helped to send Legion in ahead 2-4 to 1-5 at half time.
Mark Fleming hit Kilcummins opener but Jack Culloty again found the net, this time from a spot kick which had to be dispatched expertly to the corner. That goal would prove to be the buffer for the remainder of the game as efforts from Cian Stack and Darragh Keane made no inroads into the lead, thanks mainly to nice point kicking from Samuel Scroope and Dara Horan. Referee Evan Horan did a fine job officiating and when he blew the long whistle , it had the County League champions three points to the good.

INTERMEDIATE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
What seemed like a long way off for so long is now just around the corner. With Kerrys All Ireland interest now over, the Intermediate Club Championship kicks off on the weekend of July 27th/28th. We face Glenflesk in the opening round with Gneeveguilla locking horns with St Mary's in the other game in our group. Both ties are to be fixed for neutral venues.
U11 BOYS
The East Kerry Board U11 go games commenced on Thursday evening with a home fixture to our neighbours Glenflesk.
Two very competitive and fast-paced games ensued with excellent score taking from both sides on the evening . Huge thanks to our referees on the evening, John Keane and Oisin Fleming . It’s great to see young and younger taking up the whistle to officiate at our Go Games. Thanks to two excellent Glenflesk teams for visiting, and we look forward to returning the visit later in the season.
KERRY MINOR LADIES
Congrats to Andrea Murphy and the Kerry minor ladies who have qualified for the All Ireland football final. They will meet Cavan in the big decider on Saturday July 27th.
KERRY ALL IRELAND SEMI FINALS
No joy for the Senior Men as they just fell short to Armagh in an epic Saturday evening encounter in Croke Park. This Saturday it's the turn of the Ladies as they attempt to raid the orchard with a 7.15pm throw in at O Connor Park in Tullamore.
U12 GIRLS
Our U-12 Girls Green and White Teams took on Abbeydorney on Tuesday evening in the last game of this phase of their County League games. Played in Derreen against a more physical Abbeydorney side the girls stood their ground, got stuck in and played some superb football across the 4 quarters of the games. Thanks to all who assisted on the evening on both Legion and Abbeydorney sides. With the end of this phase of the competition we will be looking at arranging some challenge games and training sessions will continue as normal.
U16 GIRLS
The U16 girls resumed competitive activities on Monday evening after the State exams when the Division 6 team played their opening round of the county league. Knocknagoshel/ Brosna were the visitors on a calm dry evening, ideal for a game of football. A high scoring contest ensued with goals proving decisive in the end. The visitors were the stronger side in the opening half and the Legion girls had the upper hand in the second period. However the Brosna/Knock girls had raised enough green flags in the first 25 mins to claim the points on offer this evening. Well done to all the girls playing this evening including a few of our younger u14 girls playing at u16 age grade for the first time. Thanks to the referee for officiating fairly and congrats to Knocknagoshel / Brosna who were deserving winners on the night . Final score ...Killarney Legion B 4-06
Knock/Brosna 7-10
