SENIOR MEN
Our Senior Men rounded off their County League with a valuable win over Glenflesk at the East Kerry venue. A positive result was imperative to guarantee our top flight status and early scores from Will Shine, David O Sullivan, Darragh Lyne and Peter McCarthy set an early tone. The home side bounced back and it needed an Eoghan O Sullivan score to draw level. The defining score of the half came when Peter McCarthy pounced on a loose ball to give a 1-9 to 0-7 half time advantage. Glenflesk, shorn a few regulars, struggled to get any foothold in the second half and further points from David O Sullivan, Cian Gammell, Rob Leen and Micheal Devlin put the seal on a 1-14 to 0-8 win. That coupled with Spas impressive win in Dingle saw the West Kerry side join An Ghaeltacht and Milltown Castlemaine in the drop. The first round of the Intermediate Championship sees a repeat of this game and both sides will be expected to be considerably stronger for that joust. A speedy recovery is wished for Billy McGuire, Will Shine, Podge O Connor and Eoghan O Sullivan who picked up knocks in the game. As it stands with Austin Stacks, Beaufort and Glenbeigh/ Glencar all promoted to the top division , there will be eight Intermediate clubs in the top flight.

U14 GIRLS
Our U14 girls qualified for the County League Division 3 Final by virtue of a good win over Scartaglen in Direen during the week. From the starting whistle, the girls went out strong and demonstrated their attacking efficiency as they settled into the game nicely. Showing great team work and a ferocious work rate, we entered the half on a scoreline of 1-6 to 1-0 in favour of Legion. With the wind at our backs, the girls' confidence grew, and more scoring chances from long range were taken that led to victory. Thank you to the ref, John Purcell, and to Scartaglen .
Later in the week they were crowned County League champions defeating Laune Rangers in a humdinger of a final in John Mitchels on Sunday evening . Playing against the wind in the first half, scores were hard to come by but a resilient rearguard action saw then only two points in arrears at half time , 1-5 to 1-3. With the advantage of the wind for the second half, the girls upped their intensity. A quick goal to start the half, shifted the momentum while the work rate never wained. Laune Rangers though remained in the game but couldnt find a way past the defence, who held them to only one point in the second half. The girls held out for a tremendous well deserved victory on the final score 3-7 to 1-6.

A sun soaked Direen was the venue for the visit of our near neighbours Spa for our u 10 girls Go Games on Wednesday evening last.. Two very competitive and evenly matched games were played out with both teams fielding 19 players each. Big thanks to John Keane for taking up the whistle at short notice. Thanks to Spa for visiting and producing two good sporting games. The improvements from week to week from the girls is very noticeable and training continues Saturday morning at 10:30 .

U11 BOYS
Our U 11 boys continued phase 2 of their County Go Games with a trip to Kenmare last Thursday evening . Our hosts provided a good stern test for our boys who took some time to get into their stride . Kenmare, to their credit, had two very good, well-balanced teams and played a good fast brand of football, which led to good games with excellent scores being taken by both sides. Thanks to Kenmare for hosting us and to their two young referees who were excellent at officiating . On Thursday, we play our final game of this phase of games when we visit Beaufort.
U13 BOYS
The U13 Boys commenced their East Kerry League campaign with a double header in Spa. The Green team had a belter of a game , going down narrowly to Spa in a goalfest. The White team held sway for the majority of their game to run out comfortable winners.
U14 BOYS
Our U14 boys were defeated on Friday evening by Firies in Farranfore in the last round of the East Kerry League. Firies led by 4 points at the break and despite a good effort the boys could not close the gap sufficiently in second half. Thanks to Firies for a good game and well done to them on a deserved win.
U15 BOYS
A good win for our U15 boys in the first round of the East Kerry league on Wednesday evening against Keel/Listry in Listry . The boys lead by 1-8 to 1-3 at half time. Keel / Listry closed the gap to 2 points early in second half but from there onwards the boys produced a commanding performance defending well and working some great scores. Thanks to Keel/Listry for a good sporting game as always. Final score Killarney Legion 4-20 Listry 3-8
