SENIOR MEN
Our Senior Men captured a precious two points against An Ghaeltacht in Direen on a blustery Sunday afternoon. Playing the first half with the elements in their favour, points fron Will Shine(2), Shaun Keane(2), Rob Leen(2), Micheal Devlin(2) , Eoghan O Sullivan and Podge O Connor helped to build up a healthy 0-10 to 0-3 half time lead .Rob Leen and Will Shine(3) added to their totals in the second period as a tight defensive showing kept the back door shut . James O Donoghue plundered a late 1-1 off the bench with Cian Gammell slaloming through to kick another point. A big step forward but a positive result is still needed in Glenflesk to rubberstamp a place in Division 1 in 2025.

FEILE FESTIVITIES
A busy week fundraising for the upcoming Feile competition in Tipperary on the last weekend in June. On Friday we had a bingo night in the Plaza which was brilliantly supported. We had a lot of spot prizes, generous donated by various businesses in the town and of course the night wouldn't be the success that it was without the work behind the scenes. Sharon O Shea had a crack unit assembled for the event with MC Shane McSweeney keeping the show on the road. Once breakfast was digested on Saturday it was onto Direen for the Cake Sale. This was done in conjunction with what is now the Annual U10 Blitz. To say it was a success would be an understatement with the place humming all afternoon. Laune Rangers, Rathmore, Beaufort, Glenflesk, Firies and Dr Crokes all participated with the overwhelming consensus being we'll all be back again next year. No accident as the organisation was top class and come Saturday evening , everyone could take a well earned bow.
U9 BOYS
An away day in Kenmare on Thursday evening saw 22 boys take part in three games against the hosts with great skill and teamwork on display from both sides. Thank you to Kenmare for hosting us.
U11 BOYS
Listry were the opposition in Direen on Thursday evening for the next game in phase 2 of the County Go Games . In conditions ideal for football, 24 boys took to the field to play 2 games against a hard-working Listry outfit. Special thanks to our 2 referees, Sean Pierce and John Keane and also to Listry for visiting. Up next, we play Spa at home in Direen on Thursday 13th June . The boys are improving week on week and their hard work at training is really telling. Keep up the good work!!
U13 BOYS
No joy for our U13 Boys team in their County League final against Finuge. The experience of playing in Austin Stack Park will stand to them as will all the hard work the group have put in at the start of the year. A tightly knit bunch since they all joined the Academy, there will be better days ahead. Hard luck to the team and management.
U14 BOYS
We hosted Kilcummin in Round 2 of the U14 East Kerry League on Wednesday evening in Derreen. The boys had a good win with all the players working hard and displaying a high skill level, following up on the first round win over Keel / Listry. We have our final game in the league later in the month against Firies. Thanks to Kilcummin for a good game and to referee Brian Fleming for excellent officiating.
U14 GIRLS
Laune Rangers, away in the last fixture in County League Division 3, was always going to be the toughest test. Made a little more arduous by the absence of some regulars, a couple of our U12 girls were called up. Playing with the wind in the first half, the girls grew with confidence as the scores came freely. Leading at half by 2-9 to 1-5, it would take a renewed focus by the team for the second half. But the girls kept up a mighty effort going throughout , pushing forward while defending well and always tracking back to support each other. Another full panel affair ensured a well-earned win on the day. Thank you to our strong U12s as well who managed a full pitch with ease. The future is bright with them on board! Final score 3-18 to 1-7.
DEEPEST SYMPATHIES
The Club extends its sympathies to the family of Anne Culligan , Ross Road, who passed away during the week. Ann's brother Paddy was a leading light in the club in the 1950s and went on to hold the high office of Garda Commissioner in later years. May Ann rest in peace.
