SENIOR MEN
A share of the spoils was the outcome when Dingle were the visitors to a damp Direen on Saturday evening. The visitors got the early boost of two goals, courtesy of midfielder Billy O Connor, but points from David O Sullivan, Micheal Devlin and Ryan O Grady steadied the ship. Dingle added on two further points but these were cancelled out before half time by William Shine and Ryan O Grady. Dingle hit two points in the third quarter to bring their total upto 2-5 and it took points from Will Shine, Finbarr Murphy , James O Donoghue and David O Sullivan to regain parity . Despite a late surge the winning score was elusive . Three games remain in the league, all equally important,  starting with this weekend coming against Dr Crokes.

U7 GO GAMES
Our U7 boys and girls made the trip to Listry on Friday night for the first go-game of 2024. We travelled in great numbers and had 4 matches in total. This was the first match ever for  our boys and girls and to say they did well would not do them justice! Some great skills on show, teamwork and respect. They had lots of fun and everyone played every minute. Thanks to Listry for being such great hosts! We look forward to the next one.

U13 BOYS
The U13 Boys met Finuge in Direen on Sunday evening. At half-time, Legion found themselves trailing by four points with a score of 1:3 to Finuge’s 1:7  Despite a spirited effort, the gap widened by the end of the match, with Legion finishing six points behind, Final.score Killarney Legion 1-6 Finuge 1-12. For the boys  the focus now shifts to a semi final next Sunday

U15 BOYS
Our U15 B Team completed a unique double for the club in joining their A team counterparts and becoming County League Division 9 champions by defeating a gallant Keel / Listry team in Keel.  Playing into a gale in the first half, it was a case of staying in the contest. Having been behind 0-7 to 0-2 initially,  a couple of well worked scores paired down that lead to the minimum by half time, 0-7 to 0-6. The third quarter was an even affair with Keel / Listry battling extremely hard into the wind and this was reflected in the scoreline heading into the final straight. At 9 points each, it was anyone's game but the lads hit a purple patch scoring a great goal and pushing the lead out to 1-14 to 0-9. Keel / Listry though came thundering back into the game hitting the net twice and reduced the deficit to 2 points entering injury time. It took an outstanding save at the death for us to emerge victorious. Thanks to Keel Listry for a great battle and to the referee Brendan Twiss for excellent officiating. Final score Killarney Legion 1-14 Keel / Listry 2-9.

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD
Well done to Mark Looney, Samuel Scroope, and Jack Culloty, who togged out for the Kerry South U15 development squad against Kildare in Newbridge on Saturday.  It was a great experience for the lads who gave a good account of themselves against top class opposition.

U17 BOYS
Our minor boys went down to a good Rathmore team in Dirreen on a perfect evening for good football, which was duly served up. Early green flags for each team set the tone for an attacking game of football. The visitors shaded the first half with a 2-7 to 2-5 scoreline. Rathmore went into an 5 point lead early in the second half , but the game was levelled up  at the three quarters mark. Tiring in the fourth quarter it was then Rathmore goals put the result beyond doubt.
Credit to our lads who battled on in the absence of some key players , 3-11 was a good tally . Thanks to Evan Horan for good officiating and communication as always, and best of luck to Rathmore in the final.
The lads get a break from games for a few weeks as we enter the exam window but plenty of minor action to look forward to over the summer. Final Score Killarney Legion 3-11 Rathmore 4-16

U21 COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
A difficult draw against reigning County Champions North Kerry, away from home, was made more arduous by a strong gale force wind. A tough night for all concerned but credit to the team and management for representing the club. With our U17 Boys also competing under the Club flag in the County Championship it is the goal of the club to continue our sole involvement in years to come.

SAINT BRENDANS COLLEGE
St Brendans College was successful in the Russell Cup during the week in John Mitchels, defeating Tralee CBS in the final.
James Murphy lined out in goal, Ronan O Brien and Mark Looney in defence, while Samuel Scroope and Jack Culloty were in attack.Willliam Fogarty was also a member of the squad with Paul Moriarty in the management team.

U12 LADIES
The U12  White and Green teams took on MKL Gaels in Direen on a beautiful Tuesday evening for football. It was great to see  games that were played in a spirited and even fashion by all participants. Special thanks to our referees this evening - Sean Pierce and especially Fergal Moynihan for stepping in on short notice .

U14 LADIES
On a blustery Sunday evening, our U14 girls faced Na Gaeil in Direen. A full panel effort saw the girls take the lead and they never looked back, taking the win on the night. Final score 5-8 to 3-3. Thank you to Na Gaeil for a sporting game and thank you to our Referee John O’Neill and the supporters who cheered on the girls.

U15 LADIES
The U15 Ladies are off to the regional Feile finals being held at Moyle Rovers GAA in Co Tipperary on Saturday, June 29th. There will be many fundraising initiatives to help fund the Feile adventure. We are asking all our members to donate their plastic bottles and cans to help raise funds. They can be dropped to designated points in the club grounds (only items displaying the Re-Turn symbol are accepted). The club will also host a bingo night on Friday June 7th in the Plaza hotel. Finally, the club are running their 2nd Annual U10 girls blitz on Saturday June 8th where a bake sale will be held.

DEEPEST SYMPATHIES

Also to the family of Charlie O Leary whose grandchildren are active playing members in our Juvenile club.
May they both rest in peace.
