COACHING OFFICER
At a recent Club Executive meeting Fergal Moynihan was ratified as the Clubs new Coaching officer. His remit will be to coordinate a coaching plan for all the Clubs juvenile teams and also to bring coach education to the various management teams. An able dealer, we wish Fergal well in his role.
SARAH LEAHY
Sarah Leahy has started 2024 the same way she finished 2023, in blistering form. The Killarney Valley AC athlete is the reigning National Women's Indoor 60m champion and at the league meeting in Athlone she ran a time of 7.38 seconds. With trips to Slovakia and Barcelona upcoming perhaps the ultimate goal might be helping the Irish women's 4 x 100m team reach the Paris Olympics.
KERRY LADIES
Well done to Keri Ann Hanrahan who started for the Kerry Ladies in last Saturday's defeat of All Ireland Champions Dublin in Parnell Park. The reigning league champions are at home this Sunday in Round 2 , where they will meet Waterford in Fitzgerald Stadium with a 2pm throw in.
MOTHERS AND OTHERS
One of the big success stories in the club in recent years has been our Mothers and Others group. Not only do they coach within the club but they have set up Social walking groups, gym nights for Ladies and are known to play a little football too. To that end they have represented the club on a Munster and a National stage but now they are going international, to Paris. They have been invited to an International competition which takes place in April. The Club will be backing them as they go and a number of fundraising events will also be held in the coming weeks , in which we urge the club members and supporters to get behind. More details anon.
DEEPEST SYMPATHIES
The Club extends its sympathies to the family of Christine Galbraith(nee O Brien) who passed away recently. Christine's husband Douglas is a keen club supporter, attending many games and an avid participant in the Club Lotto. Grandson Dougie also lined out for the club in his younger years. May She Rest in Peace.
