JOHNNY CULLOTY
It was nice to see the Kerry GAA Supporters Club honour Johnny Culloty at their recent end of season get together. Johnny has of course been an ever present and strong influence in our club for many many years , recognisable to all of our members. But for those of a younger vintage they may not be fully up to verse with Johnny's glittering career. He lined out 44 times for Kerry in senior championship football, played in nine All Ireland finals and gathered five of the treasured medals. He was successful in five National League campaigns and in a career that lasted sixteen years he won twelve Munster titles. He started out in the forward line but a knee injury saw him take up position between the posts . Football was not the sport in his repertoire, he played in goal for the Kerry minor hurlers at the age of 14 and won three Minor County championships and one Senior County Championship. When his playing days were over he managed the Kerry Senior footballers in 1972 and 1973 and served as a selector under Jack O Connor in the mid noughties. Is it any wonder they acknowledged him at this function on October 29th!!

U17 BOYS
The minor boys qualified for the East Kerry Minor Division 2 Final following a hard fought win away to Cordal/ Scartaglen. The home side started brightly and raced into a 1-2 to 0-0 lead after ten minutes. The lads grew into the game and a couple of quick fire goals saw us get back into the game and lead 4-2 to 1-6 at half time. The second half was a tight affair with a missed  penalty almost proving costly for the lads and Cordal/ Scartaglen converting one. The scores were level with time running out and both sides spurned chances to win the game late on. Extra time beckoned and it was the last turn to make a fast start with a goal and two points. A black card late in the first period of extra time meant all shoulders had to be put to the wheel and a 3 point lead was preserved . But with 5 mins to go in the second period of extra time  another black card was dished out and it really was a case of all hands to the pump. It was back to the walls for the remaining  minutes but the  lads saw out the game to progress. Final Score ..Killarney Legion 5-10 Cordal / Scartaglen 2-18.
