U15 BOYS

The U15 boys season goes on after a highly dramatic  East Kerry Championship semi-final in Glenflesk on Sunday.morning. Played in glorious autumnal sunshine the hosts took control of the game early , hitting the first two scores of the game. The lads responded well and the game was open with a mix of good play and handling errors on the dewy grass leading to scores for both teams. Jack Culloty was quickest off the mark to pounce on a rebound to score a crucial goal which saw us with a half time lead of 1-6 to 0-8.

The game continued in an exciting fashion with Legion raising another green flag from  Eoin Murphy  but Glenflesk were not out of the game,  making lots of dangerous runs, drawing frees and kicking good scores to narrow the deficit. Following a turnover late in the game the hosts kicked a deserved  equaliser point. On into extra time it went - again a great sporting contest that was nip and tuck throughout. Legion took the lead on three occasions only for Glenflesk to peg them back. A last free kick from well out brought the game to the lottery that is penalties. Legion won the toss and elected to shoot first. Jack Culloty, Eoin Murphy and Bryan OConnor all scored while James Murphy made two great saves. Jack OGrady slotted home the fourth and final penalty to bring Legion to an U15 final against Firies who defeated Dr Crokes in the other semi final. A great game and full credit to Glenflesk and to all the supporters from both clubs who encouraged their warriors on the pitch.

Final Score AET: Legion 2:11 Glenflesk 0:17

(Legion won 4-1 on penalties).

U12 GIRLS

On Tuesday evening last  our Legion U-12 Girls White team took on a strong MKL U-12 Girls C team in the final of their East Kerry campaign. With teamwork from the goalkeeper to the subs that interchanged , they focused on the job at hand and put in the hard work required to earn the win. Thanks to our opponents who battled with us all the way - on another night the scores may have fallen their way. Thanks to our extra team player - our supporters - for cheering us on, the Referee for officiating and all who helped out on sidelines and endlines. Special thanks for the small gift bags made up for the girls - nice touch on the evening.

On Monday October 9th chairman David Randles held a very healthily attended members meeting where a number of club issues were discussed and debated. It was felt by all present tha5 such meeting should be held mire regularly as it keeps everyone abreast on club matters. Another one will be called before the Club AGM which is being pencilled in for late November.
