KERRY PETROLEUM INTERMEDIATE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
No joy in the latest round of the Intermediate Club Championship as a tame second half performance was capitalised on by a hungrier home side in Kilcummin. The game may have lacked a cutting edge as both sides were assured of their quarter final placings but Kilcummin exhibited a great zest for the contest when the fat was in the fire. All which means we now head to Beaufort for our quarter final joust while Kilcummin will entertain Milltown Castlemaine. The opening half was of good quality , the first twenty minutes especially so, with Finbarr Murphy and William Shine starting brightly. James O Donoghue and Eoghan O Sullivan also got in on the scoring and the sides were level on five occasions. A strong finish to the half from Kilcummin saw them retire to the magnificent new dressing rooms with a three point lead, 0-9 to 0-6. With a strong wind to our backs the portents looked promising and an early James O Donoghue point closed the gap to two but that was as good as it got as the performance fizzled out in the evening gloom. An improved showing will definitely be needed in the Mid Kerry venue in order to advance to the last four.
Team...Brian Kelly, Podge O'Connor, Danny Sheahan, Rob Leen, Cian Gammell, Darragh O Doherty, Daragh Fleming, Padraig Lucey, Darragh Lyne, Finbarr Murphy 0-3 , Jonathon Lyne, Eoghan O Sullivan 0-1, James O Donoghue 0-3 , Will Shine 0-2, Peter McCarthy.
Subs used: Peter O Sullivan for Podge O Connor, Jamie O Sullivan for Peter McCarthy, Shaun Keane for Eoghan O Sullivan, Ryan O'Grady for Finbarr Murphy, Thomas Moriarty for Rob Leen.

U12 GIRLS
Our U12 girls concluded their County League campaign during the week when they travelled to Beaufort. In a very open and sporting game, the home side made our midfield and attack work hard while our backs were kept on their toes the whole game. A massive effort was put in by the girls and the game opened up a bit more in the second half but the early scores proved to be crucial in deciding the outcome and Beaufort took the victory on the night. Well done to the Beaufort team and their coaches. Well done to our girls on a fine campaign. The girls head right into their East Kerry competition next week and we wish them great success.

U14 GIRLS
The U14 girls took to the field on Sunday evening in the opening round of the East Kerry Division 1 league. The visitors to Direen were Fossa, the third time these teams have faced each other this season. The visitors played with the aid of the stiff breeze in the opening period and raced into a big lead with some early goals. We were slow to settle but did manage to stem the tide and work our way into the game to tag on some scores and keep the game alive albeit leaving a big deficit to make up at the break. The home side came out of the dressing room with renewed purpose and worked their way back into the game. A purple patch and a flurry of green flags and before long the game was back on level terms. The visitors bounced back and it was nip and tuck with 10 mins to go. Fossa came strong in the closing stages to register some vital scores to claim the points on the night. Well done to all the girls who succeeded in providing yet another entertaining and sporting contest for the supporters in attendance. Thanks to Jason O’Brien who had a fine game on the whistle. Final score Killarney Legion 7-06 Fossa 8-11.
Earlier in the week the second team commenced their East Kerry league campaign making the short trip to Spa for the round 1 fixture. Heavy downpours and a chill in the air greeted the teams as they emerged from the dressing rooms. Despite the challenging conditions, both sides served up an entertaining game in a high scoring encounter. The visitors settled quickest and took an early lead that they would retain throughout. The slippery ball on the excellent surface meant goal opportunities at either end. The girls in green took their chances well and put in a solid performance to claim the two points on the night. Well done to both teams, thanks to our hosts in Spa and next up for this team is another local derby when they face Dr. Crokes in Round 2.

BABY JOY
Congratulations to Elaine O Donoghue and her partner James McCarthy on the birth of baby Eabha over the weekend. Glad to report all are doing well.

OISIN FLEMING
Congrats to Oisin Fleming who was our sole representative in the East Kerry team that defeated North Kerry in the County Minor Championship last Monday in Austin Stack Park.

KYLE GRIFFIN
Now domiciled in Canada Kyle Griffin kept in tune with his GAA upbringing by getting involved with the Eire Og club in Vancouver. Always a willing and helpful member of Killarney Legion, it wasn't long until he ascended to the highest office of Club Chairman. And just last weekend they achieved a significant milestone, their first Senior Championship crown. Well put it down to the leadership from the top.
