CLUBZAP
The winter has seen the Club examine better ways to communicate with its membership. Outside of the social media channels of Facebook, Instagram andTwitter and the usual weekly written notes it is imperative to keep all our players, parents, mentors and officials in touch with club affairs. To this end we have enlisted the app Clubzap to aid us with our communications. Downloadable through the relevant app store it is useful for playing Club lotto, paying membership, sharing results and fixtures and directly messaging parents and players of the various age groups. We have already started to roll it out to our Juvenile teams, both boys and girls, and it is envisaged that it will be the tool used to send out messages. Keep an eye out on our social media to see the progress of the roll out and special mention must go to Juvenile Committee Chairman Donal O Leary for his unstinting work during the winter months both sourcing and bringing the initiative to the Club Executive.


CLUB HISTORY
As the Club approaches its Centenary year it is always important to remember how far the Club has come since its foundation in 1929. The Club was founded on a March evening when a group of eleven men held a meeting in the Temperance Hall in High Street. To give reference to today this is where O Sheas Tyre Centre is situated in High Street. The Club's first Chairman was Maurice O Leary, first Secretary Maurice O Leary. A Treasurer was not elected as money was scarce in those days. The first captain of the Senior team was Vincent Doyle. For the record
the Founding Members were Maurice O’Leary, Joe Cooper, Vince Doyle, Michael O’Leary, Martin Wade, Denis Hussey, Paulie Regan, Timmie Casey, Larry Horgan, Liamie Leary and Michael Cooper.
The Club crest was only designed in 1993 and completed a year later by Fergal O Carroll and his father , the late Jim O Carroll. Featured on the crest are a football and a sliotar, the three blue lozenges represent the three Lakes of Killarney. The doorway to the oratory on Innisfallen Island is in the top segment of the crest while underneath is the fruit of the Arbutus tree, which is synonymous with Killarney.
Notable members through the years are the Lynes of Cleeney, the seven brothers Fr Michael, Donie, Teddy, Tom, Denny, Jackie, Con and not forgetting sister Maura who was mother to the famous Spillane brothers in Templenoe. Johnny Culloty captained Kerry to their 21st All Ireland in 1969, one of five Senior medals he would win in a stellar career while in more recent years James O Donoghue was the Club first All Star in 2013 , a feat he repeated in 2014 when also becoming the GAA/GPA Footballer of the Year.
The late Weeshie Fogarty had no mean football career but it's fair to say his broadcasting career would rival that. Known as the Voice of Kerry Football he sadly passed away in 2018.
The Club has made great strides off the field in recent years with a state of the art all weather pitch, fully flood lit, another pitch with a 300 seater stand and PA system, a fully equipped gym and four large dressing rooms.

KERRY TEAMS
Another win for Keri Ann Hanrahan and the Kerry Ladies in their Lidl National League campaign this time by the bare minimum over Mayo. Donegal are the visitors to Austin Stack Park this Saturday February 4th with a 12 noon throw in.
No joy for the Senior men in Ballybofey over the weekend, Monaghan come to Fitzgerald Stadium this Sunday February 5th with a 1.30pm throw-in. Here's hoping Cian Gammell makes the match day squad in his hometown.


EAST KERRY SUPERLEAGUE
Our Senior Men are in action on Sunday February 12th at 12 noon when they begin the defence of their East Kerry Superleague crown , Firies being the opposition.
