KERRY PETROLEUM INTERMEDIATE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
A dramatic finish to our home game against Listowel Emmets in Round 2 of the Intermediate Club Championship. Leading by three points heading into injury time we conceded a goal which put the visitors in Direen on level pegging. Sensing a win the North Kerry team piled forward but at a cost, they failed to keep the requisite number in defence in their half and David O'Sullivan popped the resultant free over to wrestle back the initiative. But further drama was to ensue as Listowel attacked deep in stoppage time and won a free, to be taken outside the two point arc. It was a valiant effort but drifted left and went with it was the Fealesiders hopes of a win. It was a competitive game throughout with three points being the biggest advantage in the first half. It was Ryan O'Grady and David O Sullivan who did a lot of the heavy lifting with support from Eoghan O Sullivan. The 0-7 to 0-5 half time lead was quickly erased by a rapid start by Listowel which yielded 1-1 and it took a superb Brian Kelly free to put the teams back on parity. The O Sullivans kept the game at parity with Listowel converting from distance and just as it looked like Darragh Lyne and Ryan O'Grady had given their side a firm leg up in the game , Emmets again struck for a goal. With the sides at parity there was plenty of excitement right to the final whistle , with the shrill of the referee's whistle lending to a gasp of relief from the home faithful. Final Score Killarney Legion 0-16 Listowel Emmets 2-9.
The final group game is now a must win , with Ballydonoghue the opponent at the North Kerry venue. Throw in on Saturday August 23rd is at 2pm.

MINOR BOYS
Legion hosted Kenmare in the first round of the Keanes SuperValu County Minor Championship. The clubs sides are in with South Kerry in Group 3. Kenmare got the better of a weakened Legion side when the teams last met at the start of the year but with most of our players available and training well, after our Division 1 County League hield win this was a game to look forward to.
The visitors opened the scoring on a perfect evening for football and after Legion equalised from Finan Blackwells free, Kenmare scored a 2 pointer from a free. Brian O Shea pointed in response and Legion went into the lead when wing back Mark Looney's run was picked out by fellow wing back Luke Courtney and he fisted in from close range. Samuel Scroope followed up with a nice score then a powerful run and a bullet-like finish from Bryan Walsh gave Legion a clear advantage .Two further great team goals in a golden spell from Jack Culloty and Brían O Shea and nice points from Luke Courtney and Samuel Scroope either side of Kenmares goal capped off a great half of football for Legion.
The full l back line of Cillian Murphy, Brian O Connor and Ronan O Brien were alert to Kenmare attacks throughout and great team defence with transition to attack though the second half was the hallmark with Kevin Looney, Jake Coffey and Evan Cox working tirelessly from 20 to 20.
Eoin Murphy, Finan Blackwell and Brían O Shea all took lovely scores in the second half to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Subs Darragh Moynihan, Sean Pierce, Eli Anderson and Eoghan Prendergast all slotted in confidently to close out the game for Legion.
Thanks to Kenmare players and management for a very sporting game, excellently reffed by young Darragh O'Shea.
Full time score Killarney Legion 4-15 Kenmare Shamrocks 1-9.

U12 BOYS
The latest round of the Under 12 boys East Kerry league took place on Wednesday evening in Direen with Glenflesk providing the opposition.
With quiet wet and slippy underfoot conditions due to heavy rain showers, both clubs played two teams and two very exciting games with great football on display and a huge heart and determination shown by both teams . Both teams were under strength due to injury and holidays, but those that played give it their all, and despite the poor weather, the football was ever a really high standard.
Legion just shaded affairs in both games . Thanks to Glenflesk for travelling and rearranging the fixture from a few weeks ago . Greeting.Great thanks also to the 2 referees John Keane and Sean Hegarty who took up the whistle and their refereeing was superb as always.
U14 BOYS
In glorious weather conditions, our U14 boys and Dr Crokes produced a classic local derby, sharing the spoils on a mild Tuesday evening in Direen . Legion were slow to settle, taking a while to get into the game, but once they grew into it, they began to dominate and took a deserved 2-7 to 1-7 lead into half-time. Crokes roared back in the second half, hitting a strong spell to go five points clear at one stage. But in a dramatic finale, Legion struck a last-minute penalty to snatch a draw in a pulsating contest that had skill, drama, and no shortage of local pride. Final score Killarney Legion 4-13 Dr. Crokes 5-10
