GOLF CLASSIC
Mother Nature smiled on Killarney Golf and Fishing Club last Friday as the rain experienced in many parts of the country gave way to more benign conditions for our annual Golf Classic. Play got underway at 8.10am with the final trio out at 4pm. The office suppliers "Brother" assembled a team and they played like a family unit to claim top prize on 95 points. Jim and Ciaran Kennedy , alongside Anthony O Mahony, made up the winner formula. They were chased all the way home by the Pat Kissane sponsored team of Maurice McCarthy , David O Sullivan and Pat Casey , who they only bettered in the back nine. There was only a point between the top three teams as the Legion Senior team trio of Darragh O Doherty, Finbarr Murphy and David O Sullivan , playing under the McGuire and Liston banner, clicked for 94 points. The O'Sullivans Pharmacy Team took the honours in fourth place where Ian Prendergast , Peter O Sullivan and Gary Vaughan checked in with a tidy 93 point effort . Bryan Griffin's iron shot into the picturesque 18th earned him the nearest to the pin prize while Kieran Cremins monster drive clinched the longest drive.
The Club would like to thank most sincerely everyone who took part in the Golf Classic , sponsored a team or a tee box and bought tickets in the raffle. We are also very grateful to Patrick O’Donoghue and the GlenEagle Hotel group for their generous sponsorship of the Classic. Special thanks to Enda Murphy and his greenkeeping team who had the course in immaculate shape as per usual. Finally this event would not be the success it was, 51 teams took part, without the work of our guru Sean Murphy who cajoles and coordinates the Classic.

SENIOR MEN
The late Late Show may have wrapped up on Friday night TV for the summer but that didn't stop the Senior Men team from producing their own version of it in this County League game played at a windswept Direen. Trailing by six points, 0-13 to 0-7 with four minutes left in the game it looked like the points were heading to Launeside. Ryan O'Grady took advantage of a foul to bring the free out to two point land to cut the gap to four and then repeated the dose two minutes later to set up a tense finale with the scoreboard now reading 0-13 to 0-11. There was still time for more drama as the ball was worked into the hands of Shaun Keane, and the midfielder who enjoyed a fine hour kicked a glorious point off the outside of the boot, but more importantly from outside the arc, to level up the game at the death. A draw would be deemed a good result given the grip Laune Rangers had on the game throughout , thanks mainly to the accuracy of Gearoid Hassett. They led 0-9 to 0-4 at half time with the full forward line of David O Sullivan, Finbarr Murphy and Ryan OGrady all on target. Josh Bowler was lively early in the second half as he tried to get his team back into the game but Rangers looked like they held the whip hand. But that was before the late drama unfolded and resulted in a share of the points . Final Score Killarney Legion 0-13 Laune Rangers 0-13.
Team Brian Kelly, Peter O Sullivan, Danny Sheahan, Darragh Fleming, Darragh O Doherty, Jonathan Lyne, Brian Walsh, Shaun Keane, Eoghan O Sullivan, Denis Sheahan, Peter McCarthy, Finbarr Murphy, David O Sullivan, Ryan O Grady.. Subs.. Conor Gammell, Brian O Shea, Mark Heffernan, Oisin Fleming, Jason O Sullivan , Tom Benson,
Later that evening the Senior B team headed to Farranfore where they found the home team a tough nut to crack. Firies built up an early lead which they never relinquished and despite a strong comeback the Legion effort came up short . Final Score Firies 0-15 Killarney Legion 1-8.

U12 BOYS
Our U12 boys played Austin Stacks in the first game of phase 2 of County League Go Games .
Twenty five boys togged out to face the Rockies.
Austin Stacks started very strongly and our lads struggled to get to the pace of the game for the first 10-12 minutes and eventually started going midway through the first half with some good passing plays and excellent scores in phases .
The second half played very much like the first, with Austin Stacks dominating, but to their credit, our lads kept plugging away and never gave up .
Thanks very much to a very well coached and sporting Austin stacks team for travelling on a Monday evening . A big thanks also to our two referees, John Keane and James Murphy, who were excellent in refereeing both games..
Kilcummin was the venue on Sunday evening
as we played the next round of the County League Go Games . Two teams took on their Kilcummin counterparts in two very exciting and tough games of football . There were plenty of good scores taken and conceded. Thanks to Kilcummin for hosting . Eric Domingues debuted in goals for Legion and had a great game for a guy playing football just about a year now he was excellent . Up next is Ballyduff away

U14 BOYS
The lads battled bravely in a high-scoring U14 County League semi final  contest but fell just short as Kenmare edged them by four points. Despite trailing by six at halftime, Legion responded well, trading goals and pushing hard in the second half. However, Kenmare’s sharp finishing proved decisive. On another night, the scoreboard might have told a different story—but this was a game where fine margins separated two evenly matched sides.

U16 BOYS
Our U16B Team joined their A Team counterparts in securing an East Kerry League title by defeating Glenflesk in the Division  2 Final after extra time in their home patch on Wednesday evening  .Playing  with a strong breeze in the first half  the teams traded scores throughout. A well worked goal saw us lead by 1-4 to 0-4 at half time. We picked off some good points in the second half but Glenflesk scored goals at crucial points and saw them lead by a point with a few minutes to go . The boys kept going and scored the equaliser required to bring the game to extra time with the teams tied at 1-11 to 2-8.
Another Glenflesk goal in extra time had them two points ahead with time running out. The team refused to be beaten scoring a goal and a point in the closing stages to win by two.
A tremendous win by the team who kept going to the very end. Thanks to Glenflesk for an exciting game and to Donal Casey for excellent officiating.
We look forward now to the County League where both our teams will compete in their respective divisions .Final Score Killarney Legion 2-14 Glenflesk 3-9.
