INTERMEDIATE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
A quarter final date with Austin Stacks in Connolly Park this Sunday August 18th is the reward for our Senior Men following a hard fought win over St Mary's in Con Keating Park on Sunday. A stiff  wind and a stoic defensive showing allowed the home side retire to the changing rooms with a slender 0-4 to 0-3 advantage, Rob Leen and David O Sullivan notching up the scores. The second half needed an injection in urgency and so it transpired as Cian Gammell with two fine efforts from the middle of the field and Davod O Sullivans accuracy pushed us two clear. The Cahirciveen side were hanging in there but a well worked move found Shaun Keane in one on one with the South Kerry custodian and he made no mistake to effectively wrap up the game. There was to be no late drama as the game finished on a 1-10 to 0-7 scoreline. That tie against the Rockies has been fixed for 4pm on Sunday in Connolly Park.
Team...Brian Kelly, Darragh Fleming, Darragh O Doherty, Peter O Sullivan, Jonathon Lyne, Danny Sheahan, Rob Leen (0-1) , Jamie Alade, Cian Gammell (0-2), Eoghan O Sullivan, Darragh Lyne . Denis Sheahan, Sam Benson, David O Sullivan (0-7) ,Peter McCarthy.

MINOR COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
Although a depleted side were competitive in most phases of the game, Kenmares ruthlessness in front of goal was the difference between the two sides in a Round 1 game played in Direen on Monday night.
Even with the breeze to our backs in the opening half it was Kenmare who netted early when two Legion defenders competed for the same speculative Kenmare aerial ball but it fell to the Kenmare full forward who beat the keeper . Legion got a couple of good points but a second goal from a similar communication issue meant Kenmare led by four points at half time. Kenmare were defending in numbers and their forwards were a constant threat on the counter and an unfortunate turnover led to a third green flag for the visitors. We grew more into the game in the final quarter and a harsh sending off of a Kenmare wing forward give us a bit of impetus  but the lads were denied clear goal chances by good Kenmare defending. We have two more tough games against club championship winners Austin Stacks (Monday August 19th) and fancied Divisional side St Kierans( this Monday August 12th at 7pm in Castleisland) but the lads will benefit from these games and it is important for the club that we bring them on in a tough competition. Final.score Killarney Legion 0-9 Kenmare Shamrocks 3-9.

U13 BOYS
U13 East Kerry Division 1, Phase 2
Legion dominated this opening round game with a convincing display over Rathmore. Despite playing against the wind in the first half, Legion’s defence was solid, limiting Rathmore to just the odd foray. The skill level displayed was exceptional, with all players contributing effectively and moving the ball with precision. Their teamwork and individual performances were top-notch, helping them run out impressive winners.

SUMMER CAMP
A very enjoyable and successful summer camp was held during the week in Direen. Close to 80 kids took advantage of what was in general a dry week and great fun was had by all . It is important to acknowledge the Senior players, adults and older juveniles who helped to coordinate the whole effort. Wothout them the camp would not have been the success it was. Special mention to Donal O Leary who was at the steering wheel. Amongst the helpers were Liam O'Toole , Noel Leahy, Brian Looney, Ted Healy , Sean Culloty , Tadgh Doolan , Noelle O'Brien , Ellen Coffey , Lauren Horgan , Becci Fleming, Eve Coffey , James Anderson , Éanna Kearney , Kathrina Maguire , Ciara Randles , Eoghan O'Sullivan , Jamie Alade , Darragh O'Doherty , Tom Cronin , Sean Hegarty , Eoghan McSweeny , Claire Lyne , Madison Angland, Kate O'Toole , Sophie O'Shea , Lauren MacSweeney , Kate Pierce , Grace O'Shea, Dara Horan , Seán Horan, Caoimhe Horan, James Murphy , Liam Quirke , Samuel Scroope , Ewan McGillycuddy , Mark Looney, Jack Culloty , Darragh Moynihan , Laura Healy , Sinéad O'Leary  and Eimear Kearney.

U12 GIRLS
A very successful blitz  was held in beautiful conditions on Saturday in the John Mitchels complex. We sent over two teams and they played five games each , which was thoroughly enjoyed as they faced opposition from outside the usual suspects.

U14 GIRLS
The U14 girls resumed competitive activities on Wednesday evening when they played their opening round of the East Kerry League Division 1.  It was always going to be a toughest challenge  as they faced the County League Div 1 A champions MKL Gaels . Going into the game depleted, some of our U12 stepped up to the challenge. The girls were competitive in most phases of the game. However MKL was ruthless in all areas of the pitch, making it hard for Legion to work scores. This was our first loss of the season, and despite our outcome, the girls will benefit from playing tougher competitors. Thanks to the referee Mike Devlin, who stepped in at the last minute. Congrats to MKL on a deserving win, and thank you to all our patient supporters tonight.

U16 GIRLS
After a few weeks hiatus in the Division 6 campaign, the u16 girls were back in action this week. A trip to Listowel was the assignment and a big thanks to Emmets for rearranging the fixture at short notice. A combination of sunshine, rain and humidity did not spoil the game and a very entertaining and close contest ensued .  It was neck and neck throughout with the lead changing hands every few minutes. The visitors did just enough to be in front by the minimum at the final whistle.  Well done to all the girls playing on the night and thanks again to Emmets for hosting. Thanks to the referee for fair officiating and to all the parents and supporters who travelled to Listowel.
Next up for this age group is a semi final next week for our team competing in Division 3. Remaining fixtures in Division 6 will be confirmed shortly. Final score Listowel Emmets 5-03 Killarney Legion 3-10
