SENIOR COUNTY LEAGUE
Our Senior Men collected their first points in Division 1 of the County League with a 3-11 to 0-10 win over Kerins O Rahillys in a blustery Direen on Saturday evening last. Playing against the elements Peter McCarthy palmed home a first minute goal and points from Finbarr Murphy and Eoghan O Sullivan made it 1-2 to 0-2 early on. A couple of frees from Ryan O Grady extended the advantage but O Rahillys finished the half strong with four unanswered points, prompted by Barry John Keane, to leave the lead at the minimum, 1-4 to 0-6. The blue momentum continued momentarily in the second half with an equaliser but the influential Darragh Lyne kicked a point and followed it up with a goal, more likely seen at our neighbouring Celtic Park. BJ Keane struck again but with wind advantage William Shine, second half substitutes James O Donoghue , Micheal Devlin and David O'Sullivan extended the margin to 2-11 to 0-10. Jameso had the last word when he crashed home a third goal to ensure the points.
Team.. Brian Kelly, Podge O'Connor, Darragh O Doherty, Peter O Sullivan, Darragh Fleming, Jonathan Lyne, Cian Gammell, Darragh Lyne(1-1), Jamie Alade, Eoghan O Sullivan(0-1), Conor Keane, Finbarr Murphy(0-1), Will Shine(0-1), Ryan O Grady(0-2), Peter McCarthy(1-0).

Round four is a visit to our neighbours Kilcummin, with the game pencilled in for the weekend of April 20/21.
The Senior B team played out a 2-8 to 0-14 draw with Keel in the latest round of Division 6. It maintains their unbeaten start with the back game vs An Ghaeltacht due to be played this week.

U13 BOYS
Our U13 boys had their second County League outing on Sunday evening away in Spa. Our lads battled hard to the very end but came up against a physically stronger Spa side who took the points on the night.

U15 BOYS
The U15 boys began their County League Division 1 campaign in Glenbeigh on Wednesday evening with a good win against Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane. Playing with the wind in the first half Legion built up a commanding lead by the interval through excellent work rate, strong teamwork and good finishing. The second half was an even affair with GGC not leaving their heads drops and fighting till the end despite the gap.
So a positive start for the boys in their first game of the year with plenty to work on before the next game at home against John Mitchels. Full time score Killarney Legion 5-14 Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane 1-8.

U17 BOYS
Played on a horrible Thursday evening for football, the U17 boys team bounced back impressively from their disappointing last outing in Spa to beat Rathmore in the final group game. The result sees them finish second behind Austin Stacks in the group in Division 1A and a semi final against Dr Crokes awaits, with the fixture pencilled in for Monday April 8th at 6.30pm.
Starting the game well, moving the ball in wet conditions quickly led to the first two points of the game. Rathmore levelled matters on the quarter with a score from play and one from a placed ball.. Rathmore worked a chance across the squarw and when it looked like Rathmore might have to settle for a point they netted from a tight angle to take the lead. On a night where scores would be at a premium this could have been a big setback but a powerful run up the middle by Bryan Walsh in the very next play led to a brilliant solo goal. The teams entered the break level at 1-2 a piece but three excellent goals and some well worked points in the second half won the game on the scoreboard but it was really won in the attitude and commitment of the 19 lads who fought for every ball, tracked every run and made lung bursting attacks. As good a team performance as you will see against a good side in horrible conditions.
Thanks to Rathmore for a very sporting contest in such horrible conditions and we wish them the best for the rest of the year.
Thanks also to Tom Corbett for consistent and fair reffing and to both sets of supporters for the encouragement given to both sets of players.
The U17 second team had their first run out in month with a refixed final group game against Listowel Emmets . Played in heavy and wet conditions, both teams found fluency hard to sustain, and it was a game of many turnovers. Although the lads defended well throughout the game, Listowel was equally dogged in defence. The visitors took a decisive lead when it looked like one of their forwards fist passed the ball into the net after a good attack, but standin referee Donal Culloty let the goal stand. There was never much more than a score in the game, and the lads got their goal with a good sequence of running and handpasses to set up the 1-on-1.
Needing a second green flag after some good Emmets scores, the lads went close on a couple of occasions, with the Listowel rearguard held firm, and the visitors took the spoils. The lads will probably still make a Div 7 semifinal after a good campaign.

KERRY LADIES NATIONAL LEAGUE FINAL
Hard luck to Keri Ann Hanrahan and the Kerry Ladies as they couldn't get the better of Armagh in the Lidl Ladies National Football League final played in Croke Park on Sunday. They are still ranked amongst the top contenders for further honours with plenty to work on between here and the August showpiece final.
