EAST KERRY SUPERLEAGUE FINAL
Our Senior Men captured the Division One  East Kerry Superleague title in an evenly contested game played in Glenflesk on Sunday afternoon.  Will Shine opened the scoring with a point before Glenflesk hit back with  two unanswered points. Cian Gammell replied to further scores from the home side as a period of dominance yielded  minors  from Peter McCarthy, Ryan O Grady and Shaun Keane.  That saw the sides draw level ,a trend that was continued in a tit for tat first half , leaving the teams side by side at half time, 0-7 each. Glenflesk assumed ascendancy  early in the second half , before Shaun Keane set up Ryan O Grady for the only goal of the game. Both sides exchanged points to leave the sides at parity as the hour drew to a close. In the 2nd minute of injury time Cian Gammell was fouled off the ball and Will Shine converted the free to leave the full time score at 1-10 to 0-12.

U17 BOYSLast Friday evening , Direen played host to a very sporting manner  as our U17 development group served up a great performance to better a very good Kenmare side who were having their first league game of the year. The defence and midfield were outstanding in their rearguard action but turnovers at the other end were keeping the game tight in a first half which finished 0-7 a piece. With the advantage of the breeze in the second half a small cushion was established,  aided but the first goal of the game. Kenmare have some fine footballers and turned up the pressure eventually netting themselves to bring the sides neck and neck again. A few tactical adjustments  in the final quarter yielded 2 goals  which saw them home. To be fair to this group of players, they have trained hard in the worst of the weather and there is clear evidence of improvement in football and fitness across the board.
Kenmare too have been itching for a game and showed their quality. Thanks to the referee who contributed to a great game and to supporters from both sides for encouragement. Final.score Killarney Legion 3-12 Kenmare 1-11.
Our Division 1 team will have their next game this Wednesday, March 13th,  followed by two games over the St Patricks weekend so plenty of minor action for the lads awaits.
